That rings a bell...but then lots of witnesses found "truth parallels" in Star Trek....many were sure it was written by a brother incognito.

The Last Choice
by cameo-d inif you had to choose between wearing a magic dog collar that would allow you to live forever, or dying a natural death and perhaps having a hope of resurrection, what would you choose?.
here is the story.
please humor me and read before answering.. suppose you were told that all disease is caused by an electromagnetic imbalance.

Pioneered in Stanmore, Harrow in UK. Very high income area, many jewish people, Roger Moore had a house there at one time. Was invited in by a jewish lady who would not let me say who I was (I did try!). When she sat down in her chair and asked what I wanted I explained I was a Jw. She stood up and showed me to the door and said Goodbye. Very embarassing (I was 19 and green).
One educated wealthy woman was very insulting to my west indian sister friend, told us they had been teaching the bible while my friends relatives were still swinging in the trees! Harrow was a very uptight place including the congregation.

We have no idea how good this crisis is actually going to be for us all. Greed has fuelled the inflated economy, poisoned our nature and cut out countries and lands that really need to move forward and get a piece of the cake. Well maybe that just might happen now. We can all stop up and think about what we do with this life we have. Do we need huge cars? Do we need every electrical gadget on the market? Do we need out of season vegetables shipped all around the world from developing countries? When we are faced with tightening out belts maybe we should just count our blessings. Try and google a country like Rumania...I have stories to tell from there that are so sad they are not to believed. They have nothing...nothing!
I hope we all learn from this...I have. I have been poor in my life up until I was in my 20s, now I am well off, yet I can never just spend, spend...it is ingrained in me to be careful.
So enjoy your holidays, dont let this crisis take away the future possiblilities...this could bring us together more than we ever could think.

I worked with my husband on renovating Hayes Bridge, we were pioneers with one child and another on the way. My husband would drive from inner London out to Hayesbridge every day after he had done his early morning cleaning and work all day there. I went to look after the children on weekends in a type of creche. I helped stripping the old linoleum of the floors in the naughty boys dormitaries, we were two sisters that did it by hand...it was really hard back breaking work..along comes a brother to take over and supervise us...he lasted about 15mins...we just laughed at him...no stickability...just wanted to look important.
We worked for a year there...I admired my husbands willingness, he worked his butt off there. I remember he couldnt always get there for 8am because of the traffic and leaving his work, one morning a brother on the gate sarcastically asked him who he thought he was coming so late for the morning text and prayer. I think my husband asked him where he was when my husband was earning his families keep at 4am in the morning...shut him up.
Still there were many good experiences from haysbridge..it was before the days of complete control by the Wt so people got away with a lot more and there was a lot of fun on site. The friendships with the lads working there was great..we often had up to six volunteers sleeping in our flat (one in the bath tub!)
I havent been back in Britain for years and havnt visited the place since 1990 so have no idea how it is today...remember creeping around the back lanes to get to the hall so as not to annoy the people living close by.

Ran into the JW table at San Diego airport...
by Confession inyes, my ladyfriend and i were entering the san diego airport for our flight home to phoenix late yesterday afternoon, when i noticed a forty-ish man and woman sitting down behind a table loaded with wts publications.
i stopped to glance over them with joy.
i made familiar comments about some of the publications, noting the newer soft covers and trying to casually engage the pair in conversation.

The really old school witnesses I had the chance to work with, still had the bill board, salesman mentality. One old sister back in 1980 told me to meet her at the train station at 4.30am for service. When I arrived she gave me a stack of old magazines and told me to stand at one entrance and hand them out to people getting on the trains. She stood at another entrance. At 7am we were finished and she said goodbye...she was apart from me the only pioneer in the congregation. I never worked with her again..she scared the ...out of me. I worked with an annointed brother who dashed around in an old sportscar with the goggles and hat..he was funny. He had a battered old briefcase full of old books that he carefully opened and showed to the householder. He had a great plumy voice, good sales pitch. I was amazed...is that it? I thought there would be some great spiritual input, nope...more like. "Dear Madam, please peruse at your leisure one of these magnificent books on our Creators purpose for the earth...only 25pence each 4for one pound. Bingo..sold and back into the sportscar to speed off to the next call. I was totally at a loss as to what to say about my experience working with one of the annointed.

I am british, living in scandanavia. I have the deepest respect for the democratic process in the US. The historic election last night will be remembered by all who watched and waited for the result. This election has made history in many ways. Young people have proved that they are not apathetic to what is going on around them, they took part. Older people did not tire out, give up...they went for innovation. The deep wounds of the past have been finally covered in the US...wow to try to imagine the deep emotions of elderly afro-americans witnessing something so unbelievable just a few years back.
I take my hat off to you all....amazing, touching, motivating and exceptional. You are quite a people.

Do JW's watch movies in their homes which they would not watch in theatres?
by gaiagirl injw's sometimes speak about how they don't wish to "stumble" non-jw's or cast a bad light upon the organization.
do jw's watch movies at home which they would not want non-jw's to observe them watching in a theatre?.
if they do, do you feel that they are really concerned about what the non-jw's think, or are they more concerned with being observed by other jw's?

I remember when Twin Peaks was all the rage....I freaked just at the music...still do actually...yet many were really into it despite the sex, spiritistic overtures. I used to wonder what went through their heads when we were at DC and warned about this kind of viewing...now I know...wheres the zapper...I need to switch this guy off.

Always modest outwardly...never wore knickers though....used to crease my hubby up. Sat behind a sister once in a backless slinky red dress...when she got up to do the walz to the loos, every male head in our section moved to the right...then back to the front after being dug in the ribs by their mates...haha..very funny. Heard counsel from the platform about sisters not giving the brothers a hard time (sorry about the pun) by wearing revealing clothing. I was cured of the new outfit for every day of the convention when I had our first baby, two months old and throwing up all over me...... We were volunteers on the book cover desk for years at Twickenham, England...we looked out onto the outside concourse...it was full of the cruisers and headlights...wow did they think they were something. Still on reflection what else was there to do if you wanted to catch a mate while you still had some looks?
Those were the days....oh just remembered I was know as the girl with the odd coloured, patterned stockings....loved Mary Quant, flowers, bright stripes you name it....not looked on with approval in a small cong.
